Intense and rich nose with layers of black fruits, anise, wood chips, cassis and lots of black fruits, smoky, ripe and rich; dense and sweet in the front of the mouth with a big forward dollop of black cherry jam; more acidity and tannins in the middle of mouth mix with other flavors of anise, herbs, and pepper; powerful tannins still there, but now softened and nicely balanced; long finish with a powerful pull of fruit and richness, but held in check with tannins that keep the edges from running over, spicy at the end with a very good balance.
