Citrus, confectioner’s sugar and papaya are the opening act for this simple but pleasant sparkler. It’s light in the mouth, with noticeable sweetness but a kick of lemony acidity at the end leaves you feeling refreshed. Drink soon, preferably while watching the tide come in.

Deliciously fruity, this full-bodied Shiraz offers a big mouthful of flavor for the price, ranging from plums to mixed berries. The tannins are extremely supple, and the finish is long and a bit warm but nuanced, with hints of charred meat coming through. Drink now-2014.

Intensely fruity and fresh, with mounds of blueberries and raspberries carried by a slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Sure, Euro-drinking snobs might call it a simple fruit bomb, but it’s a darn good version of that style. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.

This wine starts off a touch rubbery, so give it some air prior to serving if you can. The payoff is a pleasant mix of pear and citrus that's fairly broad on the palate yet balanced, and lengthy, too. This year's blend is 56% Chardonnay, 30% Sauvignon Blanc and 14% Verdelho.

Production of this wine has climbed above 100,000 cases, which makes its quality all the more remarkable. Dark chocolate and blueberry aromas lead into flavors that stay in that same vein: chocolate, coffee, tinges of black olive. From the little-known region of Padthaway, this Cabernet starts off with some very promising, perfumed aromas of mint and cassis, but then shows touches of chocolate and raisined fruit on the palate. It’s soft and mouthfilling—an easy-drinking Cab to consume on the young side.
