A powerful, tannic wine which shows big spice and ripe berry flavors. From the 1500 acre Esporão vineyard, this wine has layers of dark fruits and richness. There is a juicy element which gives freshness, but this is a wine which needs another 3-4 years before drinking.

A blend of Trincadeira, Aragonês, Syrah and Touriga Nacional, this is a refreshing, easy wine, with bright red fruit aromas and fresh flavors. There are red plum and spice flavors. Six months’ wood aging leaves a touch of toast, and brings out the soft tannins. Imported by Aidil Wines & Liquor Inc.

The Aragonês is the Alentejo's name for the Spanish Tempranillo.This 100% version, with its huge, solid tannins, and layers of spicy wood, is definitely a hot climate wine. It has richness and ripe, almost new world flavors, while still preserving some element of tannin and dryness which would support some aging.

The estate wine of Esporão is a big, powerful blend of Trincadeira, Aragonês and Cabernet Sauvignon, with great structure and fruit. It is dense, with dark, firm tannins and powerful, ripe black fruits. Acidity and dryness give this wine the possibility of good aging. Imported by Aidil Wines & Liquor Inc.

Aged in half and half French and American oak, this intense wine has aromas of violets, spice and flavors of black fruits. It has more power than elegance, but it still has class from the balancing tannins, acidity and dry fruit flavors. Age for 5 years.

A heady, spicy blend of Aragonês and Castelão Frances, this is packed with mint and raspberry red fruit flavors. It is firm, tannic to finish, but shows great soft fruits as well.

Intense rich liquorice and chocolate flavors typify this rich, structured wine. Fresh acidity gives the wine a delicious lift to finish. Garrafeira means special selection or wine for cellaring, and this blend of juicy Alicante Bouchet and tannic Aragonês is definitely worth keeping for at least five years.

Of the many wines from Esporão, this is the most traditionally Portuguese in its dark black tannins, acidity and leather and spice aromas. It is powerful, at 14.5% alcohol, and a touch hot but it is a great wine with richly flavored dishes.

Hugely black in color, a big-hearted wine that tames the rustic Alicante Bouschet character to produce a densely tannic, spice and damson fruit driven wine. There is perhaps just a touch too much extraction, but there is no question about the force of the wine.

Attractive juicy fruit dominates this wine. It has flavors of red berry juice topped with rhubarb acidity and rounded off with sweetness. There is freshness, ripeness, the tannins just a band to hold all this forward fruit together.
