Distinctive for its understated, honest expression, the 2005 Hill of Content Cabernet Sauvignon offers up classic blackberry fruit accented with green pepper notes. The palate shows laser-like acidity, springy tannins and winds up with generous sweet fruit. A solid, sophisticated wine. Try with grilled steak. Drinking well now but will improve over the next several years.

The Grenache gives bright cherry flavors, while the Shiraz component is darker and tarry. Dusty tannins impart a muscular finish.

This is an unwooded blend of Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon. Nose offers fresh green bean and grass aromas. Bulky in the mouth, with sour citrus and mineral flavors.

Named for importer John Larchet’s son, this wine is a 50% Chardonnay, 39% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Sémillon. It’s round in the mouth, and toes the line between crispness and viscosity. Aromas of hay and olive oil segue to white stone fruit and fresh herb on the palate. Finish is a little bulky, but it’s a nice wine overall.

This Pinot is 78% Mornington Peninsula fruit, with the rest coming from the Adelaide Hills. Aromas are of herb and spice, finished off with a chalky, minerally overlay. Round and medium-bodied in the mouth, there’s juicy red plum and cherry fruit, with a fresh-herb edge. Finishes with the same fine mineral-powder notes that you get on the nose.

Has pretty aromas of cherry and mocha, and a chewy mouthfeel. Its plum and cherry fruit is bright, but tempered well by darker earth and oak notes. Finishes with tangy tea-oak flavors. The fruit is from Clare Valley (83%) and McLaren Vale (17%).

Despite a slightly bitter edge to its raspberry and charred-oak flavors, this medium-bodied Pinot Noir delivers plenty of pleasure. It’s a soft, medium-bodied Pinot with nuances of brown sugar and coffee and a persistent finish. Ready to drink now.

Opens with a classic Shiraz nose of coconut, violets and tar that give way to raspberry and plum pudding notes couched in some woody tannins. The mousse is somewhere between coarse and fine while the medium finish shows just a bit of grip. A great choice to bring to a party.
