Full-bodied, lush and sweet, yet despite the presence of ample botrytis, the wine retains a sense of varietal character in its lychee-scented aromas. Dried apricot and pineapple flavors linger for a long time on the mouthwatering finish. Delicious now, and should age well for at least 10 years. The 2001 and 2002 vintages are also currently available, and not far behind in quality.

This Riesling has refinement, elegance and freshness without huge complexity. It is a wine to drink now and over the next four or five years.

Slightly waxy aromas of paraffin are followed by hints of melon and spice on the nose. The palate is comprised of cinnamon and clove with a secondary burst of citrus shining through. A long and slightly honeyed finish completes this broad and mouthfilling selection.

Starts off with fairly soft aromas of honeydew, petrol and steely minerality. More fruit is showcased on the palate with green apple, lime and pineapple core. Medium weight and appropriately balanced, the finish is fresh and crisp.

The aromas here have matured into vanilla, toasted nuts and butter, while the palate still shows a crisp lime note. Zesty, short-to-medium finish. Try with simple fish preparations. Drink now.

This 2001 Vendange Tardive has richness and sweetness, with some dry botrytis character. It also shows sophistication and delicacy, with lovely acidity as well as yellow fruits. There is a delicious fresh aftertaste. Imported by Frederick Wildman & Sons, Ltd.

There's very little of this delicious VT sourced from the Schoenenbouorg grand cru, but it's worth the hunt. The botrytis nose is fat, as is the palate, wtih opulent honey, apricot, diesel and Golden Delicious apple aromas and flavors. Though full, the wine is well structured; though rich, it's more complex than overtly sweet. The lime-accented nut-and-honey finish is impressively long.

A few years of age have added some interest to this Pinot Blanc. Toasted nuts and butter are the dominant notes now, though some zesty lemon flavor emerges on the finish. Crisp, light and subtle; a good choice for a contemplative moment.

A wine that has been created to celebrate the continuing life of Jean Hugel, one of the great ambassadors for Alsace, this has fine petrol aromas, with a dry palate and great flavors of currants, toast, and some spice. It has structure, dryness and fine perfumed flavors.
