A gorgeous wine with amazing texture and integration. The nose and feel are so soft and silky, and the fruit is as expressive as Sangiovese gets. Excellent from the initial nosing through the polished palate and onto the hedonistic finish. This wine from the estate of Time Warner chairman Richard Parsons offers robust aromas of forest floor and black cherry, followed by a sleek, silky palate. Il Palazzone’s 2004 Riserva exhibits nicely aged aromas of dried currants, spice, leather, tar, Indian spice, pressed violets and cassis. There’s excellent intensity and complexity here and the wine closes long with lingering layers of spice and smoke.
