Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Odd and unfamiliar, like most wines from Indomita. The nose is off the grid and grainy, while the palate is flat, heavy and tastes of herbal, sweet, vegetal berry fruits. Candied on the finish and unconvincing.

There’s a lot of individuality to this wine, just not all good. The nose has cigar box and over-the-top sweet and baked aromas, yet the palate has a grating, acidic feel but also spice and raisiny flavors. All of it makes you more confused than confident; it has its good traits but seems out of whack.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Slightly candied aromas are herbal and similar to strawberry. The palate is snappy and jumpy, with red-fruit flavors and stemmy notes mixed in. Finishes lively but scratchy, with tomato and cherry flavors. A basic yet sketchy Cabernet.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Melon and citrus aromas are a touch mealy and strained, while the palate is sweet and undefined, with mango and papaya notes. Grabby in terms of mouthfeel, with a slight sticky/sweet finish. A decent wine, but one with some gaps and question marks.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Intensely charred and rubbery, with peanutty aromas that also fold in fresh-laid road tar. Gotta say this is unusual for Maipo and Chilean Cabernet; it’s herbal, with a green infiltration. Bouncy on the finish, with grabby tannins. It’s almost there, but too many speed bumps don’t allow for smooth driving.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Granular, baked-fruit aromas are dominant, while the palate is soft and a bit hot, with sticky plum pudding flavors. Turns more sweet, candied and medicinal as it opens, while the finish is peppery and herbal.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Murky, cheesy and just not very fresh on the nose, but solid in the mouth, with quick flavors of red fruits and especially tomato. The finish is mild and a little creamy, and tomato comes back similar to Campbell’s soup. Not horrible but not offering a lot for the price point.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Oily, chunky and smelling of cider. The palate seems more flat and cloying than it should be for Casablanca, and the flavors are jumbled melon and generic tropical fruits. Seems a little oxidized, which is not good for a wine that’s only two years old.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Let’s face it, my scores for Indomita’s wines have never been very high. But this high-end, best-of-lot Cabernet is excellent and an eye-catcher. The nose of mocha, coconut, blackberry and herbs is classic Maipo Valley, while the mouth is lush, correct and full of sweet cherry, cassis and tobacco flavors. Comfortable throughout, with unbreakable smoothness. Drink now through 2013.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Vegetal on first blush, with aromas of green bean and asparagus. The green character becomes less obvious with time, but there’s still a bell pepper element to the palate, which offers mildly stewy flavors. Finishes bland, and as a whole it’s not exactly cutting the mustard.
