Red berry fruit and restrained wood mingle in a soft, elegant wine that is more about poise than power. There's structure and complexity to be sure, which means pairing it with meat or game dishes will be delicious, but the style is gentle enough that this wine is very nice to drink on its own.

The entry starts off a bit green with notes of grass, green plum and a touch of pepper. The mouthfeel is light and lean but offers loads of fresh citrus flavors by way of tart orange supremes and lime rind. The bracing finish and prickly texture make this an easy-drinking choice.

A stellar example of what cool-climate South African vineyards can produce, this crisp, minerally Sauvignon Blanc is steely and clean in the true Sauvignon style. Tropical fruit flavors are subtle but delicious, and the finish is lingering and impressive. At this price, you can’t get much better, whether you’re looking for a solo sip or a food-friendly cohort.
