Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A graceful, elegant Pinot that doesn’t rely on weight or massive extraction to carry its flavors of cherries and herbs. Dried spices accent the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A remarkably complete and satisfying wine, showing exquisite balance and charm. Gooseberry, peach and apple flavors have a sharp, minerally streak, while the crisp acids and opulent structure are near-perfect. Strikes a delicate balance between dry and honeyed.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Not sure what has changed at Isabel, but the wines seem to lack the excitement of past vintages. The 2007 is oddly neutral, with waxy overtones to the grapefruit and lemon flavors and a slightly bitter note on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows a lot of citrusy fruit flavors—grapefruit and oranges—and passion fruit as well. Slightly creamy on the midpalate, before finishing with a faint herbal edge and strong lime-like acidity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
All Sauvignon Blanc, and it shows in aromas of gooseberries, passion fruit and chili peppers. This intensely sweet and honeyed wine also blends in an array of apricot-botrytis flavors. This is a wine that tastes great now and should also age gracefully.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Classic aromas of ripe peach, green apple and citrus, with smoky oak and a creamy, leesy note. Very rich and creamy in the mouth, almost like lemon-peach mousse, jolting and intense. Oaky, too. Stylish. Impressive for its bold fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An intense, inviting wine that instantly appeals with citrus, gooseberry and smoky-buttery aromas that say "drink me!" Intense citrus flavors and high acidity jolt the palate. Lively, fresh and inviting, a great food wine but interesting enough to stand on its own.

Isabel Estate Sauvignon Blanc - 1998

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Almost pale coppery in color, Isabel’s 2007 Pinot Gris is made in an off-dry style that’s presumably meant to buffer the wine’s crisp acids and cool, minerally personality. Instead, the honeyed notes clash somewhat with the hardness of the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Mild toast accents the delicate white peaches and Bosc pears found in this full-bodied, spicy Chard from the Mendoza (Wente) clone. Finishes lemony and long; should age a few years at least, but it’s good now as well.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This label has been a reliable source of Marlborough Sauvignon for years, and the 2006 is on form, offering bold grapefruit and passion fruit aromas. Melon and fig join on the palate, underscored by a touch of grassiness. Soft, round and easy to drink, this is a summertime staple.
