Dry and crisp, with subtle herb tea, cherryskin and cola flavors. Lots of acidity gives it a slight bite, which gives this pretty little rosé a nice, clean finish.

Jacaman’s basic county-wide Pinot isn’t as good as their Anderson Valley or Russian River bottlings, but it’s not as expensive. Shows a good grasp of Pinot essentials, with a silky texture framing cherry, cola and spice flavors.

Jacaman’s been doing a good job with their Russian River Pinot. This one’s a bit off the pace of the ’03, due to the hotter vintage that makes the wine riper and simpler. But it’s still a flavorful, dry, silky wine, with a fair degree of complexity. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The first Jacaman Pinot I’ve had from this Mendocino vineyard, and their best Pinot ever. The wine is dry, dense and full-bodied, and complex, with waves of sweet, oak-infused cherries, raspberries, cassis, cola, licorice, mushroom, leather, spice and vanilla flavors washing over the palate. Really impresses all-around as an elegant, fascinating, Burgundian-style Pinot Noir.

This winery’s ’02 Pinot was very good. The ’03 is even better. It’s richer and more nuanced, offering savory flavors of cherries, coffee, sweet rhubarb pie, cola, cocoa and spice flavors that unfold in waves in the mouth. Dry and crisp, with some dusty tannins, this wine will be best in its tasty youth.

Dark, full-bodied and thick, with jammy black cherry and cocoa flavors, as well as substantial oak. Not particularly delicate, but lip-smackingly good.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made from a mountain vineyard close to the ocean, in an area that doesn’t yet have its own appellation, this dry, crisp Pinot resembles a warmer Russian River bottling. It’s ripe in jammy cherry and currant flavors that finish firmly tannic.

From the county right across the Golden Gate from San Francisco comes this dry, elegant Pinot Noir. It has a great structure, with fine acidity, smooth tannins and oak that’s been nicely integrated with the fruit. The cherry, black raspberry, orange and cola flavors are tasty.

A little on the sharp, green and minty side, with tart acids framing cherry, black raspberry and smoky wood flavors. A good wine that could use more lushness and richness.
