Such a lovely wine. Smooth with a little bit of spice. Goes great with soft cheeses and spicy meats (think Genoa Salami). Also works great to just sip.

Dry and harsh, with lots of acidity and some raisiny flavors that approach Port. Not ageworthy. A Cabernet-based blend made from all five Bordeaux varieties.

Bone dry, tart in acidity and silky in texture, with flavors of mashed red cherries and red currants. Pretty austere by itself, but better with cheeses, roasts, olive oil.

Smooth and silky, this Pinot has rather simple but likeable flavors of cherries, cola and spices. It’s dry, with some bitterness in the finish. Tasted several times, with considerable bottle variation.

Ripeness was not an issue, but balance was, in this jammy, almost sweet wine. It tastes like melted raspberry, cherry and blackberry jelly. Finishes technically dry, but palate sweet.

Bring on the burgers and veal parmesan for this dry, exuberant table wine. It’s tannic, with earthy flavors of cherries, currants, tobacco and oodles of peppery spice.

Very soft and ripe in black cherries, chocolate and sandalwood, with a pie-filling sweetness. At this price, it’s a decent party wine.

Built like a Zinfandel, this hearty red wine is filled with wild berry, pepper and clove flavors, and is dry. It’s a bit angular and harsh in tannins. Fine with barbecue and beef stew.
