This beauty has it all. From Oz, a sinfully fruity wine, packed with tangerine, mango, guava and spicy peach flavors, with a solid layer of oaky complexities. Beyond the flavors is a rich, creamy texture, lifted by very high acids. Best Buy.

A classic white blend from Down Under, this lively, flavorful wine is filled with flavors of lime and juniper berry, tangerine zest, buttery smoke and oriental spices. The fruit is accompanied by very high acidity, and it’s dry. Best Buy.

Dark berries and tree stone fruits from entry to finish. It’s also very dry, with a scour of tannins. Don’t look for softness, though. Exceptionally high acidity tingles the palate, which means this puppy needs rich foods.

Good color, forward, peppery aromas, a solid burst of fruit and tannins in the mouth, and a rich, velvety texture that lasts through the finish—all that at a good price. Quibblers will notice a bit of residual sugar that makes it slightly sweet.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The least successful of this fine winery’s current offerings, it’s an awkward wine that combines balanced flavors with overly sweet, raisined ones. There’s a Port-like quality that persists through the finish. Some will relish it, but lovers of dry Cabernets won’t.

Peter Orr told us that this was made to be a soft, easy-drinker—he succeeded. The mouthfeel is soft and zippy, with bright red fruit, cocoa and just a hint of sour berry or herb. Brown sugar, cocoa, leather and dried spice aromas start things off.

Hedonistic and delicious, this richly textured wine offers a seductive blend of apricot, peach, cinnamon, vanilla, Mandarin orange and honey flavors. Thick and full on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Yellow fruit on the palate is cloaked in plenty of toasty vanilla and a thick, syrupy mouthfeel; yellow fruit (pineapple, pear) aromas have both buttered toast and citrus accents. Finishes bright, sweet and a touch metallic.

A dusty floral-and-spice bouquet opens this medium-weight, unoaked Verdelho. Pear and tropical fruit flavors are also dimmed by dustiness. Medium-weight, it closes with tart fruit-pit, herbal notes.

Our least favorite of the JE wines reviewed, this 70% Cab, 30% Merlot is thin in the mouth, with a sour strawberry-rhubarb-oak flavor profile. Bouquet offers graham crackers, smoke, high-toned date, plus some weedy aromas.
