A soft, semi-dry red table wine. Hanover is an awesome blend of Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin and Chancellor. Chambourcin adds a tart, raspberry flavor, Chancellor with cherry and Cab Franc adding that bold flavor of black cherry and cassis. This wine is a wonderful stand-alone and is a great choice after having a bold red for dinner. It went well with our after dinner chocolate we were destroying. This is another award-winner and a local favorite as the availability is limited. The price is right at $13. It's a great summer wine, and I will be going back for more. I highly recommend this just for the pure enjoyment of drinking while sitting out on the porch. If you're a cigar smoker, drink this with a mild and/or spice-driven stogy.

Just north of Richmond, Virginia is James River Cellars where upon first impressions, I was not impressed, but some of the best wines come from the most humble places. We tried several whites, but their Gewurztraminer was THE most outstanding. It was a Gold Medal winner at the Virginia Wine Lovers tasting. The best compliment I can give this wine is that if I were to do a blind tasting against German versions, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. This wine has a floral, spicy aroma, which is brilliant on the nose. The flavors are rich with tropical fruits of pineapple and a bit of mango with some orange and nice floral accents of rose. Quite complex. It's medium bodied with crisp acidity. The first pairing that comes to mind would be a yellow curry chicken dish from your favorite Thai restaurant. I was surprised at the complexity of this Virginia wine. All wines at James River are produced and bottled right there at the winery. Very much recommended: www.jamesrivercellars.com
