Bright in color, with a modern nose of bacon and black fruit that goes darker and smokier with time. Almost expected blackberry and plum flavors control the palate, with hammering tannins in support. Good flavor profile. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine Estates from Spain.

This is a slick, seductive pleasure-fest of sweet oak and ripe Tempranillo fruit. Pine and cocoa aromas and flavors, handsome leather accents, a mid-weight frame and smooth mouthfeel mark this modern Rioja. It’s not tremendously deep, but it’s delicious, with a sense of elegance and balance. Drink now–2006.
