Usually a better wine than this, the 2005 Knily shows modest quince and sour yellow plum aromas and rather anemic flavors. I had a substantial preference for the Jaunegg’s Klassik bottling.

Really thick and fading, with a heavy nose loaded down with corn and squash aromas. The palate features less than vibrant flavors that veer toward vegetal. Buttery and heavy; a wine that truly makes you wonder: what were the makers thinking?

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
I prefer this to their pricier single-vineyard bottling, as it offers more assertive flavors and fresher, brighter fruit. It’s slightly grassy, but also features passion fruit and currant scents and a minerally foundation. Plump and round without being flabby, with a long finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A delightfully refreshing and mouthwatering drink that’s light in body but heavy on crisp, citrusy flavors accented by just enough green apple. It’s great for the price as an apéritif. A blend of Welschriesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Sauvignon Blanc.

Heavily oaked but nice, with caramel, popcorn and buttered toast comprising the nose. Equally toasty and warm in the mouth, where sweet, ripe white fruit takes on a toffee quality. Imported by Winemonger.com.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Not quite as nice as the 2004 version, but still a tasty, lightbodied mouthful of Sauvignon, with stone and peach notes, a hint of jalapeño and a chalky, tactile finish. Imported by Winemonger.com.

Fairly pungent and different; this is no walk in the flower garden. The nose is green and carries a strong whiff of grass and/or alfalfa. In the mouth, it offers solid melon, nectarine and mango. Better in the mouth than on the nose; it has a pleasantness and open-fruit quality that scores it some points. Imported by Winemonger.com.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Starts off with apple, melon and quince aromas, but shows more barrel influence in its flavors of cinnamon and toasted oats. The finish is even toastier, so I would opt for drinking this over the near term rather than aging it.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit musky and earthy, with hints of stone fruit and grapefruit that enliven the aromas. Honeyed peaches shine on the ripe, weighty palate, but the flavors fade a bit quickly on the finish. Imported by Winemonger.com.

Golden straw in color with golden onion skin low notes; Moderate + intensity aromas of oak, clover patch, some wet stones, flowers, pit fruits including peach; also honey and sugared orange rind. On the palate, dry with moderate acid and high alcohol that's frankly out of balance (2003 was a v hot year in Europe). Flavors include cream, more orange, nuts and honey on the finish. Gris can be a "fat" grape and this is a good example of one that's gone too far in that direction. Pretty nose, though.
