Rich and elaborate, a crowd pleaser to satisfy just about any Cabernet lover. Although it’s potent in classic blackberry and cassis flavors, it shows a dryness and balance that you could call Bordeaux-style. Should develop easily for a decade in the cellar.

Very fruity and ripe, with jammy cherry, blackberry and raspberry flavors and a tease of chocolate-covered mint candy. Feels a bit abrupt and direct, so give it a decant and drink soon.

Shows a tightly wound structure, with big, hard tannins wrapped like a vise around fresh flavors of blackberries, cherries and cassis. There’s a firm, minerally tang of iron at the core of this ageworthy wine. Better after 2015, when it should begin to mellow.

A great Zinfandel for the price. It’s dry and elegant, with a mouthfeel somewhere between Pinot Noir and Merlot. Really balanced, with soft tannins and acids framing oak-tinged berry and spice flavors. With 30,000 cases produced, it should be easy to find.

Believe me, you won’t miss the oak barrel influence on this wine. It’s so good all by itself. Brightened with crisp Monterey acidity and totally dry, it’s rich in pineapple, tangerine, Meyer lemon, lime, mineral and vanilla flavors that will satisfy your Chardonnay tooth.

Beautiful, classic blackberry and currant fruit in this polished Cabernet, along with a rich, tasteful coat of sweet oak. The tannins are thick but refined. The grapes come from this plateau between Napa and Sonoma counties. Tastes young and direct now, but should settle down in 3–4 years.

Delicious. A drinkably juicy, brambly version of Amador County Zin, consistently one of Joel Gott’s best, with appetizing texture and mouthfeel and dry, dusty tannins, ready to go now with a range of meaty foods but also able to age.

A blend of Napa Valley, Lake County and Lodi, this is a somewhat rustic wine, with a minty green, briary edge to the cherry fruit. It’s astringently tannic, but appeals for its dry balance.

Lots going on for the price in this dry, clean Sauvignon Blanc. It has rich flavors of tart citrus fruits, minerals and white flowers. A very pleasant and versatile white wine.
