Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aromatic, succulent and invigorating, this Riesling is firing on all cylinders. The palate is on the dry side with powerful flavors of honey, ginger and peach that fade to an enticing spice note.

Wonderfully rich and sweet, yet while this completely coats the palate with superripe apples and honey flavors, it never seems like too much. Despite low acidity, the sweetness is balanced by powerful minerality on the long finish. Imported by Valckenberg International, Inc.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very impressive, with a mineral backdrop setting the stage for a powerful expression of apricot and pear fruit. The mouthwatering acidity masks a fair amount of residual sugar, resulting in a lingering finish that seems dry. Drink now or hold for several years for a more nuanced expression.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
You might expect a wine that smells like baked apples and poached pears to be soft and mushy, yet this wine finishes stony and crisp—in fine balance with its 10% alcohol and slightly viscous mouthfeel.

Stony and minerally on the nose, followed by gentler whiffs of honey, then finally broad, sweet flavors of ripe apples and pineapples. Mouthfilling and soft, but with balanced acidity and a long, complex finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This luscious, easy-to-drink Riesling starts off with perfumed, floral notes layered over ripe Winesaps, then moves smoothly into a midpalate laden with more apples and citrus. The long, succulent finish ends on a dry, minerally note, giving this rather sweet wine a fine sense of balance.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit straightforward and simple for what we’ve come to expect from this producer, with wet slate and honeyed pear aromas that add apple flavors on the palate. It’s still very good Riesling, medium-bodied and clean on the finish. Imported by Valckenberg International, Inc.

Light and lean in style, maybe more classic than Johannishof’s G bottling from the same vineyard, but also less enjoyable. Lime sherbet and quince form the crisp backbone, tinged with a hint of slightly confected strawberries.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
What a contrast with Johannishof’s more linear V bottling. The G hits the spot, featuring intense clover-blossom honey, apple and citrus notes. It’s plump in the mouth, medium-bodied but with great balance between acids aand sugars. Finishes long and refreshing, marked by pronounced dry minerality. Drink now–2020.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine shows the honeyed notes of a top vintage, spiked with clove and petrol. At 13% alcohol, the additional weight shows in the mouth, where there’s also just a hint of residual sugar on the lingering finish.
