A ripe, big-boned red wine that’s dry and fruity enough to stand up to barbecue or a nice pot roast. It’s got chocolaty, blackberry flavors and sturdy tannins.

Starts with a tough, closed aroma of dust, earth and dried spices, but there’s a heart of cherries and blackberries buried under the tannins. Not showing well now. May improve after 2005.
