Almost 50-50, this is a gamy and earthy wine with a strong herbality present among the bright red fruit and sous-bois aromas and flavors. Flecks of dried oregano and plum skins linger on the close. Drink now.

The acidity is in the forefront, with little structure or fruit to fill it out. The fruit displays notes of milk chocolate, red plum and fresh herbs. The toast and oakspice ride nicely on the clean finish.

A well-made blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Barbera, this value wine is a stunner with black cherry, plum and cassis notes surprisingly spiced with accents of mint and flint. Creamy in the mouth with medium-grain tannins and a solid finish.

Throughout this wine is a sensation of fortification, but without the sweetness or viscosity. On the nose, it reads as rum, with flavors of currant, golden raisin, and candied citrus rinds. The drying tannins pull no punches and serve to draw everything together.

There’s a serious minty core to the black cherry and berry fruit aromas of this wine that continues into the medium-weight palate. Creamy with satiny tannins and a hint of mocha spice and cigar tobacco on the close. Delicious and approachable now.
