Young, intense and briary, with summer herb notes of anise framing ripe, spicy blackberries. Oak adds a rich, deft touch of sweet char. The tannins are considerable and brooding, giving this dry young wine an astringent tightness. Shows all the hallmarks of ageability. 45% Merlot, 43% Petit Verdot 7% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Almost too ripe and fruity, with jammy, pie-filling blackberry and cherry flavors. Lots of oak, too, giving the wine a caramelized sweetness. A bit heavy-handed, but tasty. Drink now.

A dark, dramatic Merlot, giving the palate a tour de force of flavor and depth. Dry and somewhat tannic, it displays a huge core of blackberries, black cherries and minerals, with a coating of sweet, smoky oak. One of the more delicious Merlots on the market.

Quite a good wine, rich and ripe, with plump blackberry, cherry, anise and cedar flavors, wrapped into firm tannins. Feels a bit rugged and astringent, but could blossom over the next 5–6 years.

With this launch Kenefick enters the high pantheon of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is dry, firmly tannic and classic, with beautifully ripe, fleshy flavors of black currrants. The oak is very rich, but entirely in keeping with the volume of fruit. No need to pop the cork anytime soon. Best after 2011.

Cab Franc seldom stars on its own, but this bottling is just terrific. You could stand it beside a great Napa Cab and it will not disappoint. Firmly tannic but approachable, it has rich flavors of oak-inspired cherries, red currants, violets and chocolate. Best now and for the next few years.
