What a nice wine. It’s a real pleasure to sip this dry, fruity wine, whose flavors are evenly balanced between blackberries and herbs. The weight in the mouth is perfect, full-bodied and yet easy. A nice bite of acidity undercuts the flavors.

Starts with telltale aromas of wild-flowers, honey, peach, apricot and spices, and turns very flavorful on the palate. There’s a burst of exotic fruit and spices, but it’s nicely dry and somewhat soft.

Quite tasty, with ripe, bright grapefruit, passionfruit, lemon and herb flavors. It’s light and refreshing; long and clean on the finish. A terrific quaffer.

Dry, silky and tannic, this Pinot shows forward cherry, red currant, cola and cinnamon-nutmeg flavors. It’s a good example of a drink-me-now wine with some real complexity and class.

From one of the largest and most highly touted vintages in a great decade, this is large and fairly fat. The cassis, fruitcake and menthol nose and sweet blackberry and chocolate palate aim to please…and do just that. It feels a bit low in acidity, making it lush and forward, displaying a bit of heat and a looser structure. Still, this pleasure package is young, and the long, dark finish shows even, well-dispersed tannins. Another winner in a streak, if maybe less of a keeper. Drink now–2009, again probably sooner rather than later.

Smooth and polished, and very dry, with blackberry flavors and a touch of herbaceousness. Just as good as Kenwood’s less expensive ’02 Merlot.

A solid Zin, rich in blackberry, cassis, cherry, coffee and spice flavors, and dry. It shows a nice balance of fruit, acidity and tannins, with a smooth mouth feel.

Easy to like for its tropical fruit and pear flavors that are well oaked, and the rich, creamy texture. Fine, crisp acids follow on the long finish, leading to a clean, spicy mouth feel.

Here’s a nice, dry Chardonnay with a kiss of oak. It has pleasant flavors of peaches, cream, vanilla and spices, and will be good with grilled salmon or chicken in a buttery cream sauce.

A solid effort. Dry, delicately silky and elegant, this polished wine shows flavors of red cherries, raspberries, cola and rosehip tea, with an Asian spice finish. Pair with steak.
