Thin, dry and acidic, this shows modest peach and citrus flavors. It’s a good wine, and elegantly structured, but really should have greater fruity intensity for this price.

There’s too much oak on this wine, and the underlying fruit isn’t strong enough to support it. The result tastes like toothpicks, with modest flavors beneath of tangerines and pears.

Here’s a tight, acidic young Chard from this cool-climate appellation. It’s showing lots of mineral flavors now, against a background of Meyer lemon and apricot, and the finish is totally dry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The cool climate has accentuated the minerality and tangy acidity of this wine, which is its basic structure. Ripeness contributes tantalizing tastes of lime and mango. To this, the winemaker has seasoned brilliantly with oak, which is smoky, caramelly, vanilla-infused and creamy. What a wonderful wine. It makes you wonder how they sell it at this price.
