Bright, crisp and fresh, as a 2009 Clare Riesling should be, this is a pretty wine, blooming on the nose with floral notes, apples and citrus fruit. The lime and green apple flavors are zesty on the finish, but not that long or intense. Probably best from now–2014, but could develop interesting nuances beyond that.

Shows some nice complexity, marrying earthy undertones with tart berry fruit and peppered meat, but comes across as crisp—verging on lean—before falling away on the finish. A bit European, or at least cooler-climate, in style.

This is a slightly plummy, chocolaty Cabernet that’s a bit on the round, soft side for a region known more for structure and restraint. That said, it offers a hefty mouthful of concentrated, ripe fruit, finishing clean. Drink now.

Smells just gorgeous, combining classic lime sherbet notes with hints of petrol and fleurs blanches. But in the mouth it lacks the same finesse, and shows a riper, chunkier character that leans toward pineapple and peach. It's still very good, but don't expect it to age well past 5 or 6 years.

Starts with a hint of honey to go with Asian pear and dried spices, developing into a medium-bodied, round Riesling with strong apple, pear, spice and tangerine flavors. It could be a touch longer on the finish, but it does have a pleasant tactile quality that gives it added refreshment.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Don’t expect bold, in-your-face fruit; this is a more savory expression of Cabernet, with leather, meat and soy notes, hints of dried fruit and chocolate. It’s still full bodied and round in the mouth, and the finish lingers elegantly, brushed with silky tannins. Drink now–2015.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Complex, albeit within a limited and rather dark spectrum that runs from cola and earth through to black olive and espresso. Full bodied, but seems to lack just a bit of midpalate texture, finishing crisp. Drink now–2018.

This is an enjoyable, easy-to-drink Shiraz, medium-bodied and balanced. Offers soft red plum and cherry fruit, which is swathed in pleasing earth and oak flavors. An inviting bouquet of clay and sweet red and blueberry fruit kicks things off. —D.M.
