What a nice wine. Garnet-colored; perfumed with violet, meat, black pepper and cherry aromas. Tannins are wooly and textured, and the palate offers up a sturdy black cherry shell with molten bittersweet chocolate inside. Dry and woody on the finish. Imported by USA Wine West.

From Mornington Peninsula, just south of Melbourne, comes a Pinot with pretty violet, earth and meringue aromas. It has oaky, tealike tannins; red cherry fruit is at its core, but takes on a hint of rubber, or plastic. Finishes a little tart.

Wow, what a unique Pinot! This beautifully balanced number from down under is ruby in color with just enough forward fruit to sing "New World" but not a hint of anything over extracted and jammy. Juicy fruit flavors of strawberry are backed by a lovely backbone of backing spices and herbs de Provence. Also, sweet cinnamon, dried leaves, anise seed and fennel. Perky acidity means it's great with food but also drinks like a song on its own. Great value at this price. Aside: smells a lot like Russian River Pinot! But the spiciness is unique.
