A wine that has created its own universe. It has a unique, special softness that allies with the total purity that comes from a small, enclosed single vineyard. The fruit is almost irrelevant here, because it comes as part of a much deeper complexity. This is a great wine, at the summit of Champagne, a sublime, unforgettable experience.

A mature, honeyed nose shows how rich and open this beautiful wine is. It is rich and toasty, with layers of citrus and very ripe, almost honeyed, fruit. It is lively and fresh, with excellent structure. Ready to drink.

Dry, almost toasty, showing maturity, this makes a great partner to Krug’s nonvintage grande cuvée. Both have the same intense complexity of fruits, nuts, toast and richness. This rosé has just that extra element of taut tannins and a dry core to go with the ripe acidity.

Boasts fascinating aromas of caramel, soy sauce and meats, with only a small dash of strawberries. This is an assertively flavored Champagne that would shine with game or red meats; it’s not a great sipper on its own.

This is the current vintage of the limited-release Collection series, in which wines are held in stock, in bottle, by Krug for later release. This fabulous 1981 is mature, but still evolving. Gold in color, it is toasty, integrating flavors of nuts, cocoa and toffee, along with still fresh acidity.

This is a classic food Champagne, hugely rich, toasty, generous. Yes, there is acidity and minerality, but these individual factors are less important than the overall opulence of this intense wine. It is still amazingly young, fresh and vibrant, but also so powerful.

This Krug vintage is showing some maturity, especially from its toast aroma. But certainly not too much maturity, because on the palate the fruit remains young at heart, a crisp burst of freshness coming through the more mature acidity. All the elements are in balance, making a finely shaped wine, which impresses as much from its elegance as from its richness.

Resplendent in its new shiny gold label, Krug is a majestic Champagne. Its velvet texture, dominated by mature flavors, is toasty and rich, dense and complex. In the mouth, its beautiful roasted almond, spice and ripe pears all balance impressively. Could the wine be getting even better? No question—this is still one of the greatest nonvintage Champagnes.

A bit dark in color and lacking in bubbles, but when it comes to aromas and flavors it’s out of this world. Vanilla, cinnamon, almond and apple scents are ethereal and mature as can be, while the palate deals layered apple and spice in multiple layers. Runs a mile long but soft on the finish. Unique in style; not the least bit zesty. Imported by Clicquot Inc.

On the nose, dried apples and yeast notes are drenched in the rich aromas of clarified butter and malt; in the mouth, expect tons of mousse and a full mouthfeel, plus concentrated, dry fruit flavors (especially pear). Finishes long, with smoldering toast and vanilla flavors. "Very solid stuff," wrote one taster. Worthy of a very special occasion.
