With 24 hectares of vineyard holdings, Kruger-Rumpf is the largest landholder in Terry Thiese’s impressive portfolio. The 2001 Rheinberg kabinett smells smoky, showing plenty of mineral notes atop a base a Golden Delicious apples. A lively tartness carries the finish. —J.C.
