Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This inky, dense Brunello delivers rich opulence and velvety cherry-berry nuances. Cassis, ripe raspberries and currants are followed by dark chocolate and exotic spice. The wine shows great balance too, especially between acidity and tannin.

Here is a rich and dense style of Brunello with bright berry tones and ripe cherry followed by cedar, cola and spice. The wine is rich and opulent in the mouth with great intensity, soft tannins and well integrated acidity. La Mannella really steps forward in terms of quality with this vintage.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With vineyards north and southeast of Montalcino, this family-run winery is relatively new on the scene. Opens with floral and fruity intensity: ripe forest berry, blueberry, rose tea and violet and follows with cedar, leather, tobacco and mineral-like, iron notes. Silky, supple and medium-bodied. Imported by Tutto Vino.

Oak tonneaux aging renders a rounder, softer and easier-to-drink Brunello. Beautiful layers of aromatic intensity include white mushroom, herbal notes, sweet cedar wood, tobacco, vanilla and cherry. Imported by Tutto Vino.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy overtones of wild mushroom and moist soil add pretty dimension to this classy Brunello. At the core of I Poggiarelli, however, are black fruit, sweet spice, toasted nut and long-lasting black cherry flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here is a beautiful and charming Rosso di Montalcino (the wine sometimes referred to as a “Baby Brunello”) with spice notes, toast and black mineral wrapped carefully around a core of cherry fruit. The wine shows good crispness, polished tannins and would pair with pasta and meat sauce.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Blackberries, currants, prunes and ripe cherries are at the front of this fruit-forward Brunello. The wine boasts a deep, intense color and follows through to the palate with solid structure and velvety flavors of mature berries and spice. The wine’s strongest suit is its smooth, creamy texture.
