Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A warm, earthy and very well-balanced wine with a lot of varietal Carmenère character but polish and poise as well. The palate offers creamy, properly candied berry and marshmallow flavors, and then spice and oak-based coconut takeover. A vivid, structured wine that puts the variety in a positive light.

Lemon and apple aromas are basic, while the palate is spongey and offers only mild acidity to boost slightly mealy citrus and persimmon flavors. Finishes flat as a board.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Clean, basic red fruit aromas come with no interference, while the palate is direct and snappy, with true Cab flavors of raspberry and cassis. Clean as a whistle, with cherry essence and chocolate on the finish. Good but regular in its execution.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Call this a softer-style, drink-me-now type of SB. It’s not complicated and the acidity is sort of tame, but get at it in its youth and the wine will deliver modest green-fruit and green-herb aromas and flavors. Finishes dry and a little bitter. Nicely packaged in a catchy frosted bottle.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Popcorn, toast and spiced pear aromas are forced and elementary, while the palate is honeyed and resiny and tastes like apple-cinnamon herbal tea and OJ. Has a faux oaky dominance and will lose vitality quickly.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The aromas are not that inviting: roasted tomato, bramble, burnt earth, etc. The mouth is textured and solid, with savory, herbal berry flavors. Grabby and full on the finish, with a reduced, weighty overall persona. Strained but still pretty good for the money.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very sturdy and measured, with ripe cherry and berry aromas touched up by a blast of leather and black olive. The palate on this Cab-dominated blend shows familiar but likable cassis, black cherry and cola flavors. Tannic and firm late, with a shot of chocolate to sweeten things up. Imported by Cabernet Corporation.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smells like green pepper, saline and green apple. The palate has a pithy feel and sweet, mildly flabby flavors of tropical and citrus fruits. Seems a touch bitter and pithy on the back palate, with lime peel controlling the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The surprise of the moment from Chile has to be this full-throttle keg of dynamite Cabernet. It’s a cellar wannabe with credentials. First off, it’s brilliantly ripe, with forceful black cherry, cinnamon and wood spice on the palate. Huge tannins, poking acids and a couple of floors’ worth of depth make it praiseworthy. Imported by Cabernet Corporation.

Hard, rooty aromas suggest sugar beets, while the palate is pretty rough, with herbal, minty, leafy accents to the sweet fruit flavors. Finish is hot and heavy.
