Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Red berry fruit, anise seed, mint tea and dried flowers are attractive components to a bouquet with a strong fruit compote or jammy quality. Flavors include dark plum, vanilla and raisin and there’s a nice smoothness to the tannins. Imported by Vias Imports.

This ruby-colored Brunello offer a distinct mineral accent that is surrounded by fruity tones of wild berries, cassis and cherry cola. There’s also a meaty or smoky quality here that gives the wine more heft and determination in the mouth. Drink it with grilled sausage.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Light in color and bright in intensity, this luminous late-harvest Moscadello boasts enormous purity of aromas. The wine is also delicate and feminine with tones of yellow rose, vanilla cream and apricot that accent it’s thick, creamy texture. Not cloying or too sweet; would pair well with pâté.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s nothing banal about this reserve wine. Full-throttle from the start with meaty, smoked cedar wood, clove spice, cinnamon and a hint of barnyard or wild mushroom that blows off fast. The fruity tones are not absent and slice through the mouth with a juicy, tart close. Imported by Vias Imports.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Modern, plush and deeply penetrating, La Poderina is a well-crafted wine that shows beautiful aromas of blackberry, spice and cured meat. The wine’s best performance, however, occurs in the mouth where its long, supple finish and smooth texture are extraordinary. This is a great wine to share with friends and family on special occasions.

Poggio Banale offers a clean and polished nose with spice and black fruit highlights. The wine is chewy and deliciously succulent with tight tannins that make it an ideal candidate for long cellar aging.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Beautiful on the nose, with density and power. Very tannic on the palate, but interspersed are pockets of delicious cherry and berry flavors. With great color, tightness and pulsing acids, this is one for the cellar. Put it away and revisit in 2007 to 2010.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Open-knit and scattered on the nose; simply put, it doesn’t have the density and strength of the big boys. But in the mouth, it offers lovely fruit, modest thickness, and racy acids. In many ways it’s akin to a Rosso di Montalcino or Chianti.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
La Poderina’s Brunello shows impressive balance between its bright fruit and sassy spice components. On the close, the wine exhibits a tight, firm and penetrating feel that is carried forth by acidity and the natural firmness of the tannins.
