Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sort of sweet and gaseous to start, with rubbery, medicinal aromas. The palate is tight and closed, with warm, crusty dark-fruit flavors, an herbal influence and heat. Thus the finish is a little fiery and peppery, and there’s chop and bite to the overall feel. A kitchen-sink blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah.

Starts with sulfur and matchstick before turning broad and saucy. The palate is slick and savory, with herbal, meaty blackberry and plum flavors. It’s a big, young, extracted Malbec with an equal amount of ups and downs. Thus it falls in the middle of things.

“Cocina” means “the kitchen” in Spanish, and this blend of Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah is definitely a kitchen-sink type of wine. It’s stout, a bit reduced and tinny at first, but with air it turns into a nice, simple chunkster with plump baked-fruit flavors and a soft but structured chocolaty finish. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A gamy, slightly stemmy and rubbery style of Bonarda that reflects the variety, Mendoza’s terroir and the vineyard. Which doesn’t mean that it’s great; far from it, the wine is good but stemmy, with green-ish notes and reedy accents infiltrating the red-fruit flavors that control the palate. Solid and structured, but still it leaves something to be desired.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Cloudy and a little stewy at first, which gives it a richer, plumper outward personality. With loads of earth and leather, fruit takes an early back seat before rising up in the form of black plum and berry. Finishes plump, with adequate structure. Gets better the more you get to know it.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little reduced on the nose, so it opens with licorice and some gassy, rubbery qualities. Time sends it in a good direction; what’s left is big, meaty fruit flavors with mild tannins and good overall balance. Full and chewy right now, so drink sooner rather than later. Best now through spring 2009.

Peppery is the first thing that comes to mind, while the palate seems gooey and sweet. More jammy, creamy and borderline sticky than balanced. Like a spoonful of straberry jam.
