Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s some red berry fruits, along with some firm dry fruit tannins, but it’s the smoky wood tastes that seem to dominate. The finish is firm, a touch bitter, but there is also a residual sweetness.

This has some freshness, with red-apple flavors, light and green. There’s a spoiling touch of sulfur, probably the result of recent bottling.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavy and glowering, this wine is powered with weight. The fruit is an afterthought, the white currants, green plums and acidity creeping in after all the density of structure has softened. Wood to finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A firmly tannic, structured wine, with some fresh strawberry and high acidity. There is a cushion of velvet as the tannins soften in the mouth. Give this at least 2 years.

Hollow, rather soft wine, which lacks definition. It has some pleasant, soft, raspberry fruits and light hints of tannin.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Rich, full and spiced with generous wood, this is deliciously fat Meursault. Almost honeyed in flavor and given backbone by some minerality; there’s good ripeness here. An almost opulent wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Densely structured and classically perfumed, this simple appellation wine shows the quality of 2005 Pinot. The red plums and currants are poised within a framework of dry tannins and fresh acidity, and a smoky aftertaste. Age at least five years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft, slightly soapy, this is a wine that remains resolutely out of focus. There is a hint of the proper juicy Pinot Noir flavor, but just a hint. For the rest, the wine is light and fresh.

What a nose. La Belle Marguerite's the color of ruby Port, so we shouldn't have been surprised at the luscious black currant, plum, black pepper and membrillo-paste aromas it showed. Cracked black pepper and curry notes spice up the palate's cherry, fresh red pepper and mineral flavors. Racy and medium-bodied, it finishes with more spice, plus some dried cherry notes.

A soft, rounded wine, with spice and toast and a cushion of plump yellow fruit. Almonds and mandarin oranges fit well together with the fine acidity.
