Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smoky and sultry smelling, with berry jam aromas and ample subtleties. The palate is tannic and lively, like a good, masculine youngster should be. And the flavors of raspberry and plum are vivid and smack hard against the inside of your cheeks. Could use a year, but it’s drinkable now with steak.

Intense, saturated and well balanced, with touches of motor oil, earth and herbs on the nose. The palate is flush and mouthfilling, with proper tannic bite, fine acidity and stylish flavors of blackberry and raspberry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A hint of orange escapes from an otherwise acrid, oily nose, while the flavors of nectarine, peach and lychee are pithy and bitter. Can’t offer a whole lot of positives about this weird Viognier.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Crusty and dark smelling, with plum, berry and sweet marshmallow aromas. The palate is concentrated and round, but with acidic verve pushing cherry and cassis flavors. Finishes creamy and rich, with noticeable oak and espresso.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lagarde regularly makes consistent, true wines and this Cab is compact, solid and smooth, with spice and a lot of berry fruit on the nose. Refined, deep and pure on the palate, with blackberry, marzipan and licorice flavors. Very nice Argentine Cabernet for the money. Drink now into 2011.

Lagarde Cabernet Sauvignon - 2007

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A hulk of a wine with forced oak that results in aromas of mint, char, citrus peel and smoke. The palate is endowed with ample black cherry, raspberry and mocha flavors, while the finish mixes orange peel, chocolate and a lot of leftover wood resin. Interesting but very oaked up and not quite in perfect balance.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is your quintessential New World Best Buy. The bouquet is full, slightly oaky and a touch burnt, and overall it’s very nice. Same goes for the mouth, full of ripe berry and cassis flavors. It’s medium to full in terms of weight and intensity, while the tannins create a chewy, masculine sensation.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sweet apple aromas are probably the most defined thing coming off the innocuous nose, while the palate is forceful and citrusy, with jangly pineapple, peach and lemon flavors. Amplified white wine with a vague Viognier identity.

Lagarde Viognier - 2009

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft, but with the stuffing to make it appealing. Dark and rich, with modest acids and tannins but plenty of oomph. The nose is all cigar box, barnyard and black fruit. Very chunky and a bit herbal. Frankly, it’s all over the map; probably should be drunk now—with braised short ribs or something similar.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The fruit is certainly ripe here, but is really very young. It has good berry fruits and some soft tannins, relying on its juiciness to balance the fresh acidity.
