Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very mild nose that releases weak bursts of flowers and honey. Not complex or structured but with just enough crispness to make your mouth pucker. The nice thing about less intense wines is they are easier to pair with a larger assortment of foods.

While there’s a decent amount of weight to this wine—enough to stand up to food—the flavors seem a bit dilute, showing only hints of almond and melon.

The nose is redeeming; there’s some leather, smoke and rubber along with cotton candy. In the mouth, dusty, earthy flavors add a leathery quality to the otherwise plum and cherry palate.

A low-acid, fruit-forward Chardonnay for $10? What's not to like? Honeyed pear and dried spices upfront, a slightly viscous mouthfeel and lots of ripe pear, spicy pepper and dried clove flavors make this a solid value.

This pleasant lightweight wine opens with floral notes followed by apple and almond flavors. Adequate acidity and a medium body complete the picture. A nice aperitif.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very fruity, almost peach juice-like wine with layers of honeydew melon and apricot. There’s an interesting tug of war between sweet and sour in the mouth that promises to pair well with exotic foods. Imported by Empson (USA) Ltd.

This well-priced Merlot has jammy aromas of cherry and blackberry folded within spice and leather. The wine is raw, chewy and succulent on the close.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Inviting aromas of butter, almond and citrus open into a rich, thickly textured wine studded with peach, almond butter and citrus pith. The slightly bitter notes echo through the finish, providing a welcome sense of balance to round mouthfeel and fatty flavors.

You can’t beat the low price and overall good cheer of this fresh Italian Chardonnay in a screwtop bottle. The golden-colored wine reveals a soft and smooth texture accented by pretty aromas of stone fruit, honey and almond nut.
