This one shows off hints of butterscotch, vanilla and citrus in the nose, followed by pretty pear, lemon and toast notes on the palate. The wine is medium-bodied and quite refreshing. Clean on the finish.

Fat fruit, juicy and ripe, brimming with wonderful fruit flavors. The wine is unctuous, sinfully lush, and still balanced with berries and spice and some good toasty oak. Young and hard, but good stuff with a nice life ahead.

There sure is some great ripe berry fruit in this old-vine Zin, and the interplay of flavors, tannins and acidity is fun and complex. But excessive residual sugar gives it an uncomfortably sweet edge for a table wine that’s supposed to be dry.
