Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A worthy white wine to stand beside the winery’s estate red. Made from a single vineyard, it’s absolutely dry and brilliantly crisp in acidity, with subtle, complex flavors of white peach, citrus fruits, minerals and white flowers. A touch of oak adds the perfect note of toast. Very fancy and upscale.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A massive wine that absolutely demands time in the cellar, Lancaster’s ’05 is nearly all Cabernet, with tiny amounts of the other four Bordeaux varieties. It stuns with the power and authenticity of its hilly Cabernet origins, offering vast black currant, orange rind, anise and smoky oak flavors that implode on the palate. But the tannins are hard. It should blossom and fully come into its own after 2010.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
It’s fair to call this a junior version of Lancaster’s more expensive, superb Bordeaux-style wines. Like them, it’s rich in black currant and cedar flavors, and quite tannic, a wine that needs a few years to come around. It’s also a touch more rustic. Three-quarters Cabernet Sauvignon, one quarter Merlot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A beautiful Bordeaux blend, brimming with blackberries, cherries, currants, mocha, herbs and smoky oak. It’s dry and softly impressive now, and the tannic structure suggests further aging for a few years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec blend, this wine impresses with its richness and fine tannins. Shows intense flavors of ripe wild blackberries, cherries, milk chocolate, anise liqueur and smoky cedar flavors. Made in the modern cult style, it’s accessible now due to the softness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lancaster burst on the scene with enormous buzz, perhaps before they had really earned it. Steadily but surely, they’ve built up the wine, and the ’04 is the best ever. It’s a gorgeous Cab, softly complex, rich in cassis, cherry, spice and oak flavors anchored with warm, earthy tannins. In fact, the earthiness stands it in good contrast to Napa Valley, making it wholesome and complete.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An alluring Bordeaux blend that’s smooth and supple, with mocha and char nuances on the black plum fruit. More than one reviewer, however, questioned its longevity and its depth.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The soft, silky quality of the tannins, fine acidity, and elaborate black cherry, currant, herb, anise and oak flavors make this elegant young wine fully ready to drink now, with equally fine food. Give it a few hours of decanting.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very lovely blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with rich flavors and classic dryness. Shows delicious blackberry, black cherry, currant and dried herb flavors, touched with smoky oak, and wrapped into gentle tannins. Should age well over a decade; decant if you’re going to drink it now.

A very fine Cabernet. Not quite in the league of the ’04 and ’05, but rich and complex, a wine to drink now and over the next few years. Shows sweet tannins and accessible flavors of wild blackberries, currants, herbs and smoky cedar.
