A 100% Chardonnay blanc de blancs that is presented without any dosage to soften the acidity. Yet it doesn’t seem to matter, because this Champagne is deliciously ripe, packed with mature fruit flavors, a touch of almonds to go with the white currant tastes and a layer of toastiness. This blanc de blancs from biodynamic grower Pierre Larmandier is bone dry, packed with delicious white fruit flavors, very crisp, but also full and rich. There is a great mineral edge to it, which shows how well it will age, but enjoy it now as well.

This is certainly Chardonnay, full of green apple and white fruit creaminess that is still suspended in acidity and needs time to soften and open. Lovely flavors of spiced pears give the wine a great future.

Pierre Larmandier produces this special cuvée from selected parcels in his Vertus vineyards. Although it is not indicated, this particular bottling is all from the 1997 vintage. Aromas of nuts and white flowers are followed on the palate by dry, fresh, elegant flavors. The firm acids and strong mineral streak that runs through it provide definite structure. To finish, there is a clean citrus taste.

Many of the vines that go to make this wine are 75 years old; others are 40 years old. It is an extra brut, very dry wine, with toast aromas and flavors of almonds and green plums. At this stage, it is very young, and certainly needs another five years before its richness and great elegance take charge.

The Special Club is a grouping of around 30 vignerons who taste each other’s wines before allowing the member to make a Special Club bottling. This 1997 vintage wine is almost completely dry to taste, allowing the rich fruit to dominate. Mineral and lemon flavors work with the attractive fruit. This is a wine that will develop well over the next few years.

This wine is a blend of fruit from Vertus and grand cru vineyards in Cramant, Avize and Oger. It is a dry style with hints of almonds and vanilla, along with some toast. It is certainly a full wine, but the strongest feature is its elegance and balance.

Although this is marked nonvintage, the fruit all comes from 2004. It is made from old vines, giving richness and ripeness, and a generous white fruit character which fully compensates for the very dry nature of the wine. It’s delicious, a complex wine of intense character.
