A little too sweet, both in oak and in fruit, for a dry table wine. But the flavors, of white peaches and lime custard, are tasty.

Sweet fruits shape a very opulent and rich nose, honeyed fruit and butterscotch candy aromas, lemons and a touch of acidity in the nose mix with a hint of the minerals from the soil; sweet and rich in the mouth, lots of lemon acidity shape this wine from the very beginning of the palate to the end, but while it imparts a bit of hardness to the wine, the effect is very balanced with lots of sweetness and spices; classy wine with a long finish; fresh and forward and drinking at its peak now. (19/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Sweet, rich and succulent nose with licorice, herbs, menthol, smoke, quite deep and complex if a little heavy in the Latour style; sweet and rich in the mouth with deep, rich flavors of hard lemon candy; succulent and supple with a very long mouth-coating finish that has flavors of green apples and lemon peel. (18/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
An excellent wine from a somewhat obscure vintage; sweet and peppery nose with a touch of honeyed fruit, ripe and rich aromas; lots of sweet fruit in the front of the mouth, candied lemons and lemon peel; really quite elegant in the mouth with a long, silky finish. (17.5/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Sweet, soft and round aromas, lemony with traditional cabbage smell on the nose, but also mixed with sweet lemon aromas and candied fruit; the wine is more herbal and laced with flavors of green olives than one would normally expect; there is lemon fruit in the wine, mixed with light lemon acidity; somewhat bitter and short at the end; Clive, predictably, thought that this was terrible wine. (15.5/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Classic initial nose of cabbage and sauerkraut, quickly moving to lots of sweet fruit with touches of honey and spices, earthen aromas; perfect in the mouth, this wine has everything that one looks for in a white Burgundy; sweet fruit, totally integrated and perfect pitch; sweet fruit, elegant, layered and refined; long spicy finish with honeyed fruit and sweet lemon acidity; complex but very friendly at the same time; can’t imagine how it gets any better than this. (20/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Sweet nose, loaded with vanilla and candied fruit, soft and seductive, some touches of minerals and smoke; the flavors of the wine match the nose, soft and fruity, loads of vanilla bean and candied citrus fruits, but the wine is coarse and lacking in elegance; quite two-dimensional in the mouth, although pleasant and certainly very drinkable; the wine lacks complexity and backbone, however, and is quite disappointing for what it is supposed to be. (15/20)
