Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lively citrus character with a balanced, elegant overall feel make this SB from Stellenbosch producer Le Bonheur a winner for those who want more complexity along with zesty lift. There’s a flinty, grassy quality here, alongside richer tropical flavors that make it ideal with poultry and fresh summer dishes.

A good wine with flavors of citrus and yellow fruits, but it lacks the intensity and lively acids of previous vintages. Has aromas of white stone fruits and orange peel.

Cassis well integrated with the oak used here dominate from the nose to the long finish. The medium body weight fits well with the harmonious palate. A fine companion for tonight’s steak frites.

This wine suffers from the excessive use of oak. A little Chardonnay character is discernible, but toast, caramel and a resinous element predominate.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This delicate wine features an interesting nose of leather, dried herbs and arugala. Ripe red plum flavors lead to an herbal finish with a hint of faint leather and vanilla curling up at the very end. The tannins provide gentle support to the soft acids and lightweight body.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Intense aromatics of field greens and rhubarb seem indicative of unripe fruit. That impression is echoed by the palate, where there’s cherry cola and root-like qualities. As a package, it’s unbalanced, with a berry-syrup quality dominating the core. —M.S.
