This is a big, black wine, intensely medicinal and herbal in character. It has powerful, extracted, dark tannins, emphasized by chocolate and spice flavors, as well as dark plums.

The tiny, 17-acre vineyard of Le Clos d’un Jour produces three wines; this is the middle in quality terms. It was aged in earthenware jars, reproducing ancient techniques. The wine, despite its dark color, is light, refreshing, a model of delicious black fruits and vivid acidity. The tannins are tight and spicy with a bitter-chocolate edge.

You want power from Malbec? This is it, a solid, dense, structured wine, whose wood element gives vanilla and spice. The fruit meanwhile needs time, its richness under the wood, but it is certainly there. There is weight but that Malbec acidity just powers through to add freshness.
