Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
94-96 Barrel sample. A complete wine, with the tannins, deep blackberry fruit, sweet acidity and dense structure all coming together in great harmony. The wine is certainly ripe, but equally structured. For aging.

90-92 This wine, almost entirely from Cabernet Franc, shows the great success of the grape in 2003, with intoxicating perfumes over solid structure.

92-94 Barrel sample. A fine, perfumed, Cabernet Franc-dominated wine that builds layers of rich, intense fruit. This is solid, powerful, but also shows potential charm. The dry aftertaste suggests good aging.

93–96 This single-vineyard wine has benefited immensely from the quality of the Cabernet Franc in 2004. The perfumes are immediate and enticing, while the ripe fruit just pushes out over the layers of new wood.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An aristocratic, perfumed wine dominated by delicious Cabernet Franc. Beneath this elegant exterior, there is also power from intensely concentrated fruit and tannins. The wine is already well integrated, the wood only here by feel, balancing so well with the fruit. To finish, sweet fruit and dusty tannins combine easily.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The flagship single-vineyard wine from the range of wines made by Jonathan Maltus in Saint-Emilion, this is 70% Cabernet Franc, a great testimony to the quality of the grape in one of its home territories. This 2004 has much of the usual power of this wine, with its great spice and dried fruit flavors, underlined with wood. But, being 2004, it also has a great lift and vitality that stops its power being overwhelming.

Benefiting from the great quality of Cabernet Franc in 2006, this is a beautiful wine, perfumed and seductive. The fruit tannins are so well integrated with wood that they are only just dominant. Ripe, opulent but also firmly structured, this will age magnificently over five years or more.

94-96 Beautifully perfumed wine, profiting from the great Cabernet Franc in 2010, with almost silky tannins. The heady berries are surrounded with violets, giving a wine with great final freshness.
