This shapely, opulent Brunello delivers soft texture and rich intensity that is highlighted by crisp aromas of sweet cherry, spice and dark vanilla bean. That soft roundness continues to the palate where the wine exhibits a smooth, velvety texture.

This Brunello opens with a bright ruby color and delivers aromas of cherry cola, Spanish cedar, cigar box, wild berries and spice. It’s a streamlined wine that puts more emphasis on elegance than brawn or power. A Marc de Grazia selection; various American importers.

Simple and straightforward aromas of red berry and mineral cap the aromatic nuances expressed in the Brunello Riserva. What the wine lacks is complexity, although it does feel rich, smooth and bright in the mouth. A Marc de Grazia selection; various American importers.

Giuseppe Gorelli’s Brunello tastes a bit ripe in 2004 with layers of dried figs, prunes, apricots and candied fruit. In the mouth, the wine is angular and raw in places because of the mature nature of its tannins, but it does close with surprisingly fresh notes of wild berry and underbrush that balance it out. Drink now.

There’s a sharp, brambly note here of forest green and sour cherry that eventually transforms into spice and blackberry as the wine spends more time in the glass. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky.

Aromatics are not very intense but do yield leather, earth, tobacco over cherry fruitiness with vigorous swirling. Moderately toasty, with sweet spice accents and a dry finish on this medium-bodied Brunello. There is harmony, but no poetry here. Imported by Vin Divino.

Slightly jammy aromas of mature berry set the stage for what ultimately proves to be a bold and well-structured Brunello. The wine delivers power and heft in the form of firm tannins and intense cherry flavors.
