Sweet and seductive nose, loaded with toffee and caramel, slightly roasted, very perfumed and exotic; sweet and seductive in the front of the mouth, perfumed and quite feminine on the palate; very composed but with a forward citrus fruit set of flavors that are fresh and focused; nice acidity in the middle of the mouth, but the wine seems to dissolve a bit at the end, leaving a slightly dilute and fading echo. Musty and gamey at the outset, this nose seems damaged and is showing some volatile acidity in its aromas, there is sweet fruit also mixed with sour mash; much better in the mouth with soft, silky flavors, sweet fruit on the palate; but this bottle has sustained some damage and seems to be somewhat collapsed from what it seems the underlying structure should have been; even with that, this is a pretty good wine. (16/20) A better bottle was served at Ron Pohl’s birthday dinner, which was fresh and intense with strong red fruit aromas, spicy and peppery nose with a nice touch of cedar; clean fresh fruit in the mouth, this wine tastes a lot younger than its age would suggest; lots of red cherry flavors and wonderful soft but dry tannins add a touch of real class to this wine. Perfumed and sweet nose with the characteristic floral and intensely aromatic quality of the Leroy wines, exotic and spicy aromas, rich ripe fruit; sweet and spicy in the mouth with loads of ripe black cherry flavors; intense flavors, very nicely balanced; good finish with spicy fruit on the palate; very polished and expressive. Musty ripe aromas, lots of earthen scents, truffles, sweet black fruits; soft and rich in the mouth; nicely ripened fruit with sweetness and lushness; lots of cherry flavors; nice finish, sweet, ripe at the end with a pleasant mix of tannins; quite elegant really for this commune. (18/20)

Very ripe and rich nose, loaded with sweet black cherry juice aromas, very intense and deep, has an interesting scent of candied tangerines; sweet and ripe in the mouth, with lots of black cherry flavors; these unfortunately give way to some muscular, burly tannins that tend to dominate the mid-mouth; the wine pulls itself back from dryness, however, and presents a balanced ripe and rich texture at the end with lots of sweet fruit and cranberry flavors; impressive for this appellation. One of the rarest of wines from this commune, with only 874 bottles made; lovely sweet nose with ripe fruits, earthen spicy, barnyardy, with sour mash aromas; smooth and silky in the mouth, very unlike most Nuits; ripe red fruit and a very defined taste of stems; woody and sweet, a bit dense and coarse in the mouth, but also nicely balanced with a pleasant mix of soft tannins and smooth acidity; nice long lemony finish. Perfumed and powerful, very elegant nose, peppery and spicy aromas mixed with sweet fruit and floral scents that waft out of the glass; sweet and rich in the mouth; has the slightly woody and green flavors of stems, lots of black cherry fruit in the middle with great soft sweetness; long and perfectly pitched finish; a real class Burgundy. Barnyardy nose at first, but then opening beautifully to reveal soft and round aromas of chocolate, perfumed fruit and stewed prunes, earth; soft and sweet at the front of the mouth with an elegant and complex structure; balanced acidity and softened woody tannins give nice grip to this wine; long, sweet finish with a lingering, perfumed set of flavors that are so seductive; this is a great wine. Sweet and very focused nose, sugared prunes, smoky and intense, with a touch of sour mash on the nose; sweet and very focused in the front of the mouth; stewed fruit, leather, but also with dry woody textures and a real acidic bite that becomes more pronounced the longer the wine is in the glass; finish is a bit hard and tough as a consequence; still an impressive wine.
