For fans of big, rich, modern wines, this is for you. The color is inky black and the nose oozes fudge, molasses, root beer, tree bark and lemon-tinged black fruit. The feel is rich but a little edgy, with thick tannins and a toasty overlay to the berries and dark plums that work the palate. Very much in the modern vein, but a success within that framework.
