Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Easy to enjoy, tasty in rich fruit, and simple in structure, this is a wine most people will like for its ripe flavors of raspberries and cherries, dusted with mocha and cinnamon. It’s also easy on the palate, with a silky texture and light body.

Pale in color, almost translucent. On the palate you’ll find cherries and cola, and a simple, acidic structure.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is one of the palest Pinots of the vintage, barely more than a rosé. The flavors, as you might guess, are thin. There’s some pretty watermelon and strawberry in there, but it seems like a case of stretching good vines into over-production.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Ripe and direct in cherry, currant, anise and cola flavors, this Pinot Noir has a brisk mouthfeel due to crisp acidity. Could be more full-bodied, but it’s a nice glassful of red wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit awkward now, tightly wound and brittle, with very ripe cherry and currant flavors as well as complex Asian spices. Bone dry and marked by acidity, it could be a sleeper. Needs at least through 2009 to wake up.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This bottling is similar to Lost Canyon’s Trenton Station Russian River Syrah, in the cherry flavors, firm acids and tannins and long finish. It may be a little tarter, but it’s in the same ballpark. Drink it now, to best appreciate the fresh, savory fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Bountiful in acids that add zest and perkiness, this wine has the fruit to fill all that structure. The flavors are of blackberries and blueberries, and the finish firm and tannic. Youthful; age 2–3 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very dry, high in acidity and with a minty edge to the cherries and blackberries, this wine tastes young and raspingly tart right now. It’s elegant enough in structure, but wants opulence. Hard to tell if it will go anywhere.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smells funky, vegetal and even a little unclean, although some will call it barnyardy. Acidly sharp and austere in the mouth, and dry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
While technically good, this is not a satisfying wine. It’s lean and tart, and not quite ripe, with green flavors partially relieved by red cherries.
