Immensely flowery, with pure honeysuckle and touches of melon on the summer-fresh nose. Rather full and big on the palate, with intense flavors of green melon, peach and spice. Only medium zest to the finish, but sneakily powerful. Imported by Rosenthal Wine Merchants.

The catch-all nose offers grass, grapefruit, flint, vanilla and baking spices. What follows is a tasty blend of citrus, green herbs, Granny Smith apples and a welcome chalkiness. Round yet structured, this bottling offers most of what’s great about Loire Valley white wine.

Lucien and his son, Gilles, are two of the best technicians in Sancerre: Their wines always have great purity of fruit. But with Le Chêne (the oak tree), they also have a fine, delicious wine that bursts with almond, toast and ripe fruit, as well as exuberant citrus flavors. This is Sauvignon Blanc at its freshest. Imported by Rosenthal Wine Merchants.

Light clean and fresh nose with loads of fresh lemons and minerals, not too complex, but not expected to be; fresh and crisp on the palate with plenty of fresh lemon juice, minerals, assertive fruit; a great “first-course” wine, and perfect for the summer months. (16/20)

Powerful, smoky nose, sweet fruit and steely aromas, lots of minerals, fresh and focused nose; fresh lemony citrus flavors; high acidity with strongly focused direction; lots of grasses and herbs in this wine, but also a nice smooth texture and full flavors; these wines are often overlooked and should not be as they are clean ad fresh, and increasingly complex. (16/20)
