* Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
I have been drinking this wine since its release with mixed results, and I suspect that it will never be a candidate for top honors; the wine opens with a rich and ripe nose with lots of black fruits, but it is also somewhat heavy and uninspired, evidencing dry woody aromas and earthen tones that do not blend seamlessly; in the mouth, the wine seems to vary considerably, and last year I did not find it as good as it seems to be this year; there is now more sweetness and fruit, but it is still lacking in the main; the flavors are hard and chunky, with dry green tannins in the mid-mouth that affect the finish, making it short and lacking grace.
