Fresh nose with ripe fruit aromas, black cherries, smoke, earth, exotic and perfumed with wonderful floral scents; very much Volnay with lighter fruit in the mouth, but fresh and clean, crisp flavors; lots of citrus fruit in the wine, but with great balance; long finish, classic style here; perhaps a bit more body would help, but very typical of this commune. Dense nose, quite funky at the beginning, but cleared to reveal aromas of tar, smoke, wood and acidity, although a bit hard; first taste was tight and reticent, but then the wine slowly unwound to reveal more fruit in the core; there is a layer of dry, woody tannins, and aggressive acidity, however, that wins the battle of the palate, making the wine finish somewhat dry and leathery; these are tough wines to enjoy. Sweet nose with perfumed aromas of red fruits, touch of earthiness, spices, hint of smoke, citrus fruits; fresh and clean in the mouth with lots of sour cherry flavors at the beginning; lots of lemon fruit flavors with a smooth citric polish; spicy and a bit sour at the end. (16.5/20)

Closed nose at first with a sour mash set of aromas, then more perfumed and aromatic, red fruits, cherries; first taste on the palate is of sour cherry juice, but then opens briefly on the palate to reveal sweet, black cherry flavors, only to close down again in the mouth and finish with a very tart and sour astringency at the end; probably will benefit from more time.
