The 60-40 Grenache-Syrah blend is becoming common among Costières de Nîmes rosés, and this one does it well, combining delicate berry notes with cool mineral shadings. It’s a little rounder and less crisp than many of its genre, but it’s still very good.

Moderately intense with notes of baked apple, peach, toasted brioche and almond milk on the nose and palate. The alcohol is a touch forward, but it’s balanced by the ripe fruit and nutty, roasty flavors. A delicious hint of vanilla appears on the finish. Drink now.

Deep ruby color. Savory aromas, sour plum and a hint of barnyard. Fairly full-bodied with super-ripe fruit, baked plums, jammy berries with some gamy, olive and clove notes. Smooth tannins, but a little warm and soft on the finish, cutting off the fruit.

It should be easy to stump your wine-geek buddies with this one. At once honeyed and rich, exotic and tropical, this is a rarity they're unlikely to even know exists. A mere hint of bitterness on the finish of this medium-bodied wine nicely balances the ripe tropical flavors. Drink now.

Enticing aromas of orange blossom, ripe apricot, peach and pineapple. Quite full-bodied and succulent with ample stone fruit flavor, orange custard, dried herbs and anise. Smooth with some viscosity but not heavy with a slight smoked almond kick to the finish.

A solid effort, Mas Carlot's 2006 rosé features scents of mixed red berries and hints of spring flowers on the nose, then delivers slightly candied but assertive notes of strawberries, raspberries and cherries on the palate. Crisp and stony on the finish.
