Frothy effervescence and delicate floral notes open this sweet Prosecco from the Cartizze cru. This wine in particular is characterized by a sweetness that is fruity, soft and chewy at the same time. The only drawback is the price tag: this is among the most expensive Proseccos we’ve seen.

Slightly sweet to the nose, with hints of crushed vitamins and fresh-baked doughnuts. Sugary white fruits control the sizable palate, while the overall character is one of simple sweetness. Veers a little toward soda pop in the final analysis.

This luscious, balanced Pinot Grigio isn’t overly complex, but scores for its cactus pear and toasted almond aromas and flavors and its peppery, refreshing finish. It’s medium-bodied, with just a hint of unreleased CO2 to enliven it.

Earthy, herbal and definitely oaky. The palate offers plum and cherry fruit with a defined as well as refined herbal note. Think Cabernet Franc and that’s what you have here. The finish, meanwhile, is broad and textured, with dusty tannins and some tang.

A nosing reveals a pungent bouquet of lemon-lime and clover. The flavors of ripe apple and Bartlett pear are pure and unmistakable, while more apple comes on strong on the powerful finish. Very good and balanced, with just the right touch of sugar.

This is a luminous Prosecco Extra Dry that opens with a delicate straw color and perky, persistent perlage. It offers aromas of stone fruit, peach, fresh apricot and honey and it has sweet fruit flavors followed by lively effervescence.

This is a simple, friendly wine with a pretty dusty, mineral quality that frames fresher aromas of pear, peach and golden apple. It’s a bit toned down in terms of flavors intensity but does end on a playful spicy note.

Masottina’s Brut Prosecco is an easy and forthcoming sparkling wine with a light but crisp mouthfeel and drying aromas of mineral, stone fruit and white flower. It’s tonic and crisp, and those are two fine qualities that would work well with cheesy or fried finger foods.

Yellow in color and dull on the nose, with almost no fruit and a strong whiff of varnish. A big, bulky palate is devoid of flavor beyond some rudimentary citrus. Not worth the price.
