Barolo Monvigliero is a taut but shapely wine with layers of blackberry, plum, licorice, cedar and chopped mint piled high. With more than five years since the harvest, this wine is slowly coming into focus in terms of integration and silkiness.

Already orangey in color and browning at the rim. The cherry, earth and leather aromas are joined by funky, barnyard notes. Tastes dense and ripe, with a solid core of cherry fruit and licorice buried under considerable tannins. Finishes a bit dried out and astringent.

We are big fans of Mauro Sebaste but found this vintage of his base Barolo to be slightly less charged and intense than previous years. You’ll get characteristic aromas of wild fruit, cola and spice and the mouthfeel is drying, polished and long-lasting. Give this wine another five to 10 years of cellar aging.

Mauro Sebaste delivers an exceptionally clean and compact Roero Arneis with a very defined mineral note and clean tones of kiwi, grapefruit and citrus blossom. The feel it imparts in the mouth is one of crispness and consistency.

Coffee and treebark aromas lead into flavors of cola and tart cherries. This is interesting from a structural standpoint, with soft, supple tannins, but it has very high, tart acids. Finish picks up hints of hickory smoke and lemon.
